How God Called Me Back to Life When Medicine Had No Answers
I Thought the Storm Was Over
After surviving my first surgery, I truly believed the worst was behind me.
I was discharged from the hospital with instructions, weekly outpatient appointments, and medications. I followed everything carefully. Slowly, my strength began to return.
In my heart, I was grateful and hopeful.
So I returned to church and held a thanksgiving service, thanking God for sparing my life. I believed that chapter had closed.
But God was not finished yet.
“Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.” Psalm 30:5
I did not know another test was coming.
Two Months Later: When the Pain Returned
About two months after my discharge, while I was still recovering, I woke up one early morning and noticed something was wrong.
My stomach was swollen again.
I could not pass gas.
I could not go to the toilet.
Pain and fear returned immediately.
I was rushed back to the same hospital.
After scans and X-rays, the doctors became afraid.
They decided to transfer me to a bigger and better hospital, because this phase was far more critical.
“When my heart is overwhelmed, lead me to the Rock that is higher than I.” Psalm 61:2
A Worse Diagnosis: My Body Was Failing
At the new hospital, the diagnosis was severe:
- Intestinal perforation
- My lungs were weak
- I could not breathe properly
- I was in extreme pain
The doctors instructed that:
- I must not eat or drink anything
- I could only breathe with the help of oxygen
After checking my vitals and running tests, the doctors prepared me for another surgery.
But there was a problem.
I was not strong enough.
I had not fully recovered from the first surgery. My wounds had not properly healed.
Still, there was no other option.
“My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart.” Psalm 73:26
In the Theatre: When Life Slipped Away
I was wheeled into the theatre around 11:00 a.m.
I was given anesthesia.
That was all I remembered.
The next thing I knew, I woke up around 5:00 p.m., weak and unconscious.
Later, my wife and the doctors told me what happened in the theatre.
When they opened me up, what they saw shocked them.
- Faeces and infected fluid had blocked my organs
- The condition was worse than expected
- After cleaning, stitching, and finishing the procedure…
I went cold.
No vital signs. No readings. No response.
The surgeons, specialists, and consultants tried everything they knew.
Then… silence.
They ran out of options.
“With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Matthew 19:26
Mercy Interrupted Death: My Testimony From Mercy to Faith
While the doctors stood helpless, someone raised a song of praise and worship.
That song turned into prayers for mercy.
And in that moment, against medical explanation
I came back to life.
Vital signs returned. Breath returned. Life returned.
“The Lord kills and makes alive.” 1 Samuel 2:6
Glory to Jesus.
What This Second Experience Taught Me
This was not survival by strength.
This was not luck.
This was pure mercy.
Twice, God brought me back.
Twice, death was interrupted.
I understood something deeply:
God did not give me a second life for nothing.
“I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord.” Psalm 118:17
Mercy came first.
Faith followed.
