My Testimony From Mercy to Faith: How God Gave Me a Second Life (Part 1)

How God Gave Me Back a Second Life on Purpose

I Didn’t Know That Day Would Change Everything

There are days that begin like any other day, ordinary, familiar, full of plans.

September 2022 was one of those days for me.

I woke up strong, sound, and vibrant. I prepared to go to church, ready to serve God the way I always did. Nothing felt wrong. Nothing warned me that my life was about to take a sudden turn.

But God already knew.

“My times are in Your hands.” Psalm 31:15

This is my testimony from mercy to faith, how God’s mercy met me before my faith could even respond.

The Moment Everything Changed

I arrived at church and climbed the stage to minister on the keyboard. While I was ministering, I suddenly felt a tender pain in my stomach.

At first, it didn’t seem serious.

But within two minutes, everything changed.

I began to sweat heavily. The pain increased rapidly. I felt weak and pressed. I managed to come down from the stage and went to the restroom.

That was when I felt like throwing up, even though I was fasting.
The stomach pain would not stop.

People prayed for me immediately and rushed me to the hospital.

“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” Psalm 46:1

At that moment, all I could do was hold on.

The Medical Reality: A Life-Threatening Diagnosis

At the hospital, the doctors tried first aid treatment, but nothing worked. The pain continued. My condition worsened.

After examinations, the diagnosis came:

  • Acute appendicitis
  • Intestinal obstruction
  • No bowel movement
  • I could not take in food or water

I was in a critical condition.

After several days, the doctors told me I had to undergo emergency surgery.

“Man plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps.” Proverbs 16:9

I was preparing to enter the theatre, not knowing if I would come out alive.

In the Theatre: Mercy When Hope Looked Lost

According to the surgeon, when they opened me up, they discovered something shocking.

My acute appendicitis had ruptured.
My intestine was halfway damaged.
Infected fluid had leaked into my organs.

The situation was so severe that they needed multiple pints of blood to sustain me during surgery.

They:

  • Cut out the damaged part of my intestine
  • Joined it back together
  • Cleaned and flushed my organs thoroughly

They also found a black object about 3cm in size inside me, which they removed.

The surgeons and specialists were afraid.

They later admitted that they did not believe I would survive.

But God did.

“I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy.” Romans 9:15

I Came Out Alive — Only by God’s Mercy

Against medical expectations, I came out of surgery alive.

What the doctors feared became my testimony.

I survived:

  • Ruptured acute appendicitis
  • Intestinal obstruction
  • Severe infection
  • Major intestinal surgery

It was not because my faith was strong.
It was because God’s mercy was greater than my condition.

“It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed.” Lamentations 3:22

That was when I truly understood something:

God’s mercy came first. My faith followed later.

What This Experience Taught Me About God

This experience changed my understanding of faith.

I learned that:

  • God does not wait for perfect faith before acting
  • Mercy often comes before understanding
  • Life itself is a gift with purpose

“While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8

I didn’t survive by chance.
I was given a second life on purpose.

“For I know the plans I have for you.” Jeremiah 29:11

If You Are Reading This While Struggling

If you are sick, afraid, waiting for healing, or unsure whether God sees you, this testimony is for you.

God is still real.
God is still merciful.
God is still saving lives, physically and spiritually.

Don’t give up when God is not done with you yet

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted.” Psalm 34:18

You may not feel strong right now.
You don’t need to be.

Important FAQs: Questions People Ask After Near-Death Experiences

Why does God allow serious illness to happen suddenly?

Not every illness is a punishment. Some moments reveal how fragile life is and how faithful God remains.
The Bible shows that sudden trials can happen even to faithful people.
“Time and chance happen to them all.” Ecclesiastes 9:11
God does not always cause sickness, but He is always present in it and able to bring purpose from pain.
“In all things God works for the good of those who love Him.” Romans 8:28

Was this sickness a sign that my faith was weak?

No. Weakness is not the same as lack of faith.
Many people in Scripture experienced suffering without failing God.
“My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.” 2 Corinthians 12:9
Faith does not prevent hardship. Faith often grows because of it.

Can God really save someone when doctors say there is little hope?

Yes. Medical reports do not limit God’s power.
“With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Matthew 19:26
God often works beyond human expectation, so that His mercy, not human strength, gets the glory.

Why do miracles sometimes happen after things get worse?

God’s timing is different from ours.
Sometimes the situation looks hopeless before mercy becomes visible.
“Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him.” Job 13:15
This does not mean God was absent earlier. It means He was working quietly.

How should I live after surviving a life-threatening experience?

Live with gratitude, purpose, and humility.
Surviving is not just about staying alive; it is about living intentionally.
“Let them give thanks to the Lord for His unfailing love.” Psalm 107:8
A second chance is often a call to:
Trust God more deeply
Encourage others
Use life for a meaningful purpose

Does surviving mean God will always prevent future hardship?

Survival does not mean a pain-free future, but it means God’s continued presence.
“I will never leave you nor forsake you.” Hebrews 13:5
God does not promise a life without trials.
He promises to walk with us through them.

What if I’m still afraid after surviving something traumatic?

Fear after trauma is normal, and God understands.
“When I am afraid, I put my trust in You.” Psalm 56:3
Healing is sometimes physical first, then emotional and spiritual over time. God is patient with the process.
